With close to 30 years of experience behind him, he understands every moving part of this operation instinctively — and it shows in his calm decision-making and clear thinking. He genuinely believes in delivering the happiest outcomes for our partners, and for him, every client is another opportunity to make that vision a reality. Ajit has an exceptional ability to recognise individual strengths within the team and place people exactly where they perform best, ensuring the whole crew moves in sync, even through rough waters & peak seasons. Along the way, he brings creativity into the mix and constantly encourages us to push boundaries, go the extra mile, and never settle for “good enough.” He is the reason we do what we do!

Gayani is ‘experience’ in human form. With 25 years of knowledge behind her, she’s seen the country change, grow, and evolve — and chances are, she’s visited most of it herself. She’s the person who can walk into any difficult situation with steady confidence. She is also the pillar of discipline within the team. Even after decades in the industry, her commitment hasn’t faded. For years, she was always the last to leave the office making sure every nook and cranny is taken care of. To this day, she remains our emergency contact,  the one we rely on when it really matters. If we need our English proofread, facts verified, or perspective grounded in real experience, Gayani is who everyone turns to. She can probably give you a cost for an entire tour in under ten minutes. What truly sets her apart is her instinct to go above and beyond for her agents in execution, ensuring clients leave happy.

If you walk into the office, you would never realize right off the bat that he runs the show! He joined the team in the year 2012 at the tender age of 17 as a chunky little guy with a smile on his face. Now he is like one of those Supernova computers. He single- handedly supervises every movement right across the country from his seat, looking after the full operation. He’s the backbone of this office.  From the age of 17 he worked his way up from the ground level over the years. Though a generally easy going, laid-back and gentle soul, Deshan is always on top of everything. Guide and chauffeur allocations, on-tour customer care, wellbeing of the field staff, all this falls under his purview.  He is excellent with numbers and even assists the accounts team whenever necessary. There’s no field he hasn’t put his foot into. 

Tracy is a true butterfly that has been through good, bad and ugly. She came to us with a background of hotels looking for more vibrant colour in engaging in a more immersive aspect of creating a holiday! Her work style and speed puts her on top of the game, when it comes to her selecting products for tailor made holidays. They say addiction is bad, but  her addiction to her laptop and giving the fastest responses to anyone who approaches her.  She is a Mastro on Travcal and holds a record for the fast-processing time. Disaster/calamities is her pronoun. Anything that goes wrong anywhere in the country Tracy is the Doctor to fix it!  She’s such a convincing work of art, if you ever talk to her, she will sell you a holiday. She’s got 2 two realms in life and crosses over to one, sell holidays and spend time with her son. Oops! Forgot something! Nothing works for her without music. 

Suwandi is the kind of person who quietly keeps the place standing. She runs the ground floor, but more than that, she’s the one who shows up whenever Butterflies needs backup — no questions asked. Over the last 8 years, she’s become the person everyone instinctively looks for when something needs sorting, fixing, or just getting done. She’s our unofficial HR anchor, our main point of contact with the banks, and the steady hand behind money moving in and out. A lot of the smoothness you experience trace back to Suwandi doing her thing in the background. Calm, dependable, and always present when it counts. 

Kiara is the Business Development Manager and is the mastermind when it comes to creativity and she is the next era of travel. She is a bowler in creativity! So goes our business development! The company’s ever evolving corporate profile and marketing are all under her wing and her special creative touch in all our marketing elements have brought in that “Wow” factor – a true edge that Butterflies enjoy over the competitors.  Her presentation skills are exceptional! She is also an excellent artist and the walls of the office are adorned with her stunning paintings. If you walk into the office and see a laptop painted, you found her desk! 

Leeshiya doesn’t just come to work — she commits to it. A two-hour train ride each way, every day, and somehow she still walks in ready to work, talk back (lovingly), and keep the energy alive. She’s the sass in the room. Nine years in, her growth has been impossible to miss. She’s our in-house tax brain and somehow also the person with all the hotelier relationships most people spend years trying to build. Making sure each of your clients experience a smooth check in and check out at each location — Leeshiya carries more than her job title suggests.

The Wonder Boy in our Sales Team, Aaron takes our guests on signature experiences, exclusive to us! Aaron also takes care of communication with several foreign agents and is praised for his swift responsiveness. He enjoys chilling by himself if there are no clients to take on Jeep tours! Aaron has his own collection of pastel shade land rovers which he delightfully uses to show forgotten bits of Colombo. He’s got a wonderfully unique captivating mode of delivering experiences. He’s won the hearts of many of our guests and is the reason for many of our glamourous reviews. Most of his weekends and evenings are spent driving the Landys into the sunset of Colombo.

Harshani is the bridge between plans on paper and reality on the road. Give her an itinerary and she’ll turn it into a living, breathing tour — guides assigned, vehicles lined up, excursions locked in, and all the little details taken care of. What looks seamless to the client is usually Harshani working her magic behind the scenes. A mother of two and a natural with people, she understands balance better than most. She knows how to manage our chauffeur-guides in a way that keeps them supported and motivated and when they’re happy, their service makes sure your clients are happy. She’s also our first call for anything happening on tour, and she handles every situation with care.

Hansi joined the Butterfly team recently, fulfilling a life long dream of hers! Hansi confessed during her first interview at Butterflies that she longed for many years to be an integral part of our dynamic team, having worked for a couple of other DMCs in Colombo over the years. She did a brief stint in clothing during the pandemic episode but managed to steer her way back in the post pandemic recovery period to doing what she loves more.  Hansi looks after Eastern European, German and Spanish market areas, assisting Gayani and Deshan in securing rooms, negotiating rates with suppliers using her sweet and calm yet persuasive voice. Her personality is easy-going, her temperament calm and her attitude to everything the job throws at her – can do!

Having joined the dynamic operations team at Butterflies at the tender age of 20 years, Dimasha hails from a family whose roots are steeped in the hospitality industry.  Her sisters are renowned chefs working in leading star hotels and her dad is a highly reputed national guide with decades of excellent service. Dimasha looks after our Australian group series and also makes sure all hotel reservations are in place as they should be. She is fantastic at negotiating some sweet deals for us! In her free time, she enjoys movies! 

Meleni joined our growing team as a newbie and is here to stay! She is new to the travel industry but has already proven to be a force to reckon with. Taking care of some of our Dutch and Spanish operations, while looking after the hotel reservations, Meleni is keeping up with the industry and creating trends and getting to know what’s new and what’s hot as we go. In her spare time, Meleni like to get adventurous. Her favourite spot on the island is Ella and her spare time is spent studying psychology. She is the quietest in our office and also probably carries the largest load in terms of volume. When she sits down to work, nothing can distract her. 

Coming straight out of school at the age of 18, this wide-eyed little lady comes with the total package – the wit, the guts and the effort! She has been learning the ropes at the very ground level and is catching up quite well. She assists the communications in the UK market and makes sure all the guests of Butterflies who are on tour are doing well and that things are indeed going as planned.  Jen is an ardent fan of food and takes our clients on food tours, where she has created a name in the streets. In her free time, Jen enjoys dancing that comes with her flow, and her weekends are spent studying Hospitality.  

Ravindu joined us three years ago and slipped into the system like he was always meant to be here. Taking on a bulk load of our payments , he does it with focus, discipline, and a work ethic that speaks louder than words. If putting in the hours matters, Ravindu gets it. He’s mostly quiet — until he isn’t. Put him in the right company, and suddenly he’s the life of the room. On the dance floor, no one comes close. He even managed to pull 1.5 million views on TikTok, which still feels very on-brand for someone who quietly surprises you. Reliable, grounded, and far more fun than he lets on at first glance.

Harsha sees the island a little differently, through a creative lens. He’s travelled far and wide to make sure special client events are executed just right, paying attention to moments most people would miss. Every trip also means we get a stash of beautiful videos, which eventually find their way to you. He also works closely with Aaron on our exclusive experiences. We’re fairly certain he’s allergic to mornings, but that’s what makes him unbeatable for late-night events. When evening arrives, he’s fully awake, alive, and in his element. Creative, thoughtful, and quietly brilliant at capturing atmosphere.

Lilani is the force behind the schedule. She keeps track of every marker we need to hit and is unmatched when it comes to follow-ups. She’s not afraid to rough it out, chase answers, and push through obstacles to deliver results. Persistent, Lilani brings structure to organisation outside holidays and makes sure momentum never stalls — even when the work isn’t glamorous. She’s the reason we’re always up to date with all our regulations and tourist board requirements. 

Coming from one of the most unexpected paths into travel, Benishita spent the first 8 years of her working life practicing to be a nun before stepping into the world of tourism. Since joining the team, she has brought with her a calm presence, a wonderfully grounded personality, and a natural instinct for keeping the office in order. Benishita is always ready to take on a new challenge and has quickly become part of the rhythm of the office, assisting with both our Australian and Dutch markets. But beyond work, she’s also one of the unexpected sources of laughter in the team. Between her stories, experiences, and unique outlook on life, she somehow always manages to keep everyone entertained. She’s proof that sometimes the most unconventional journeys lead exactly where they’re meant to.
